Let Our Experience Work For You

Spotswood Sansom & Sansbury LLC is a boutique law firm specializing in complex, business litigation. Our firm has successfully litigated cases on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants in courtrooms around the country. Whether we are developing a strategy for a single case or for multiple claims of broad concern, our mission is to implement legal solutions that match the business goals of our clients.

Our firm has helped Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, and single individuals. We are one of the few firms in America recognized, on the defense side, as a Go-To Law Firm by Corporate Counsel Magazine and, on the plaintiffs’ side, as having obtained one of the Top 50 Jury Verdicts by the National Law Journal. Our firm has been recognized by Chambers & Partners, Benchmark Litigation, and U.S. News’ “Best Law Firms,” and our elite legal team includes lawyers who have been rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, listed among the Best Lawyers in America, and designated as SuperLawyers.

Our firm has been entrusted with some of the most important legal issues facing business in America. We have defended class actions in Southern Illinois, punitive damages awards in Oregon, and wage-and-hour class actions in California. We have represented clients in the U.S. Supreme Court, six of the twelve U.S. Courts of Appeal, and in state appellate courts across the country. We frequently file briefs amicus curiae on behalf of industry groups, law professors, and others potentially impacted by decisions of appellate courts.

In our home state of Alabama, we have been involved in virtually every high-profile, complex litigation matter in the past decade. We made the first allegations of corruption related to electronic bingo, represented a significant creditor in Jefferson County’s historic Chapter 9 bankruptcy filing and related litigation, filed the first insurance rescission case in the HealthSouth fraud, represented clients in litigation related to the troubled Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (PACT) program, and made the state-court Enron litigation part of the federal multi-district litigation. Currently, we represent clients in litigation related to the takeover of Colonial Bank by the FDIC and the Blue Cross/Blue Shield antitrust litigation. We have represented defendants in two of Alabama’s highest-stakes intellectual-property disputes in recent years, one in state court and one in federal court.

In short, our firm is on the front line in the most difficult cases, in the most difficult venues, against the most difficult opponents. The results we’ve achieved speak for themselves, but the lessons we’ve learned can speak for you.
